The feeling of opening up a century-old treasure chest and watching a time-gone-by come back to vibrant musical life is the experience that Yisrael Lutnick's storytelling concert, Rosenblatt & Gershwin, gives you. With seventeen enchanting historical stories and seventeen engaging musical works from the greatest of composers, that experience is an unusually fulfilling one.
As a sample, here is a presentation about Gershwin's magnum operatic opus, Porgy and Bess. While some have criticized the work as condescending to African Americans, in truth the work became a symbol of resistance to racism and evil in at least two unique settings. Here are two heroic true stories. Just click anywhere on the slide to advance to the next one. Enjoy!
